MY STORY

After an accident (falling off a big horse) and a 6 hour back surgery, my doctor told me to take Pilates classes. I took my first class in 2005. My back is in better shape now than prior to my accident.

I realized that I love Pilates so much that I wanted to teach it to others, so they may benefit the way I have. Since I am already a teacher (elementary education), the teaching part has been an easy transition. The movements we do are also easy to teach since I have been doing them so long. I have completed my apparatus training and are now a CERTIFIED COMPREHENSIVE PILATES INSTRUCTOR. My certification is through Classical Pilates Education in Florida. My teacher trainer was Bambi Watt, owner of Willow Pilates Studio in Nashville. Bambi was trained by Romana Kryzanowska (Romana was trained by Joseph Pilates).

My posture, balance and body is in much better shape now than it ever has been. I no longer have the aches and pains of age (but do get some when I do not work out regularly)! I hope you decide to join me in a class soon!

Susie teaches the classical approach which was developed by Joseph H. Pilates over 90 years ago. The goal is to help you develop new muscular patterns in your body that will change the way you look, feel and function. Pilates is a proven healing method to relieve back pain, improve posture, lose belly weight and gain muscle tone.

Through these techniques, she will teach you to look at what your body needs to be stronger, healthier, centered and more stable. She is confident and passionate to help each student see and feel the positive change in their bodies and in their lives.

Gentle Beginner Pilates

Group Mat Classes are on Saturdays at 9 am and Wednesdays at 6 pm. There is room for up to 6 so reservations are necessary! All are welcome, whether you have taken Pilates for years or haven’t had a single class.

Classes will start with a warm up and end with a “special” cool down. Susie incorporates classical Pilates moves as well as some other moves and stretching. Classes are $30 each, 5 class package is $125.

Pilates is a series of series of movements that will stabilize and strengthen your core. The moves may look simple, but the emphasis is on precision and control. We focus on technique and quality of movement, not quantity.  You will find that your body gets stronger, your muscles will become more sculpted and you will gain more flexibility.  Your balance will also improve with time as well as having better posture and a better sense of well-being.
